MAS™ Proficiency Areas

SELECT MAS™ Proficiency Area tabs for more information on a particular area as described in the Construction Overview.

MD (MAS Developer – Project Coordinator):  A MAS Developer operates under a contract with MAS which specifies the are and type of projects they can manage.  This designation is call “PFAD” and is described below.:

  • A specific Project (example: “ABC City low income housing bid #340-16-C”) or;
  • A specific Field (example: “Military Bunkers, for ammunition storage”) or;
  • A specific Area (example: The Southern Portion of Mexico) or;
  • A specific Department (example: US Federal Emergency Management Agency).

Within a PFAD there may be Type Limitations (“T”).  For example Company X could request and receive a Level 1 certification for Northern California for residential housing.  Company X only wants to use MAS-1300™ (Type R).  Company X would have a Level 1 [A-“Northern California”, F-“Residential Housing”, /T-“MAS-1300™ (Type R)”]

A year later Company Y could request and receive a Level 1 certification for Northern California for storage garages (small and large).  Company Y would have a Level 1 [A-“Northern California”, F-“Storage Garages”, /T-(Type G)].  Thus Company Y could use a MAS-570™ (Type G) or MAS-1300™ (Type G) for use with storage garage projects.

Contractor)  This person/company would have detailed knowledge of the nuts & bolts, tools & forms, construction procedures, etc. to manufacture a structure that uses the MAS™ system.  A Contractor MUST hold the appropriate local licensing credentials (Contractors License, etc.) to construct ALL aspects of a MAS™ system.  A Contractor MUST work with a MAS Developer and can NOT construct or work on a MAS project without the involvement of a MAS Developer. Many times the MAS Developer and Contractor are one in the same.

Job Site Foreman/Lead – Superintendent:  This person would have detailed knowledge in the construction techniques associated with a MAS™ system.  A Foreman would typically be a captive employee of a Contractor, however a Foremean could also be a freelance independent worker.

Specialist/Workers (sub-contractors): These persons will have familiarity with one or all of these five specialty areas involved with the construction of a MAS™ system and outlined below. A  Specialist Worker would typically be a sub-contractor employed in the trade they are performing, or be a captive employee of a Contractor with experience in the specialty area.

Specialty Areas:

  • (X) Foundation / Concrete Finisher*
  • (A) Form / SPiFolding Setters
  • (B) Re-bar Setters
